These circumstances can occur since there are specific approved indications for Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment (HBOT), if your case does not has an indication, the referral can be rejected. Referrals are individually analyzed. Reasons why a referral could be rejected are: There condition for the treatment dos not have an indication for hyperbaric Oxygen. There is a contraindication. • My treatment has been scheduled for a time that I cannot attend, Is it possible to change it?
Unfortunately not, hyperbaric chamber treatments are organized according to pressure groups, and each group has a specific schedule or time during the day, and the treatments are different between them. In some cases, there may be changes in the schedule of the entire groups in order to accommodate the needs of emergency and high priority care. The medical team of the department works 24 hours a day, all year round, in special shifts, which is why the hyperbaric chamber has pre-established schedules for non-emergency uses. For example: Group 1: kl. 09:00 Group 2: kl. 11:30 If you have been assigned an appointment in the group 1 (kl. 09:00), it will not be possible to change to a different time during the day, because the treatments are different.
  • I received a text message that my next treatment has been cancelled, what does this mean?
If you have received an SMS that the next treatment has been cancelled, this means that the hyperbaric chamber is most likely busy with emergency cases, which may last for long hours, and in these cases we notify you by SMS. The treatment will be given on the next calendar business day, or following the instructions in the SMS. The treatment is not deducted from the total remaining, it is simply moved up one day. If you cannot attend, our staff will help you. Other reasons (very rare) could be due to technical matters: Safety pre-treatment checklists. Poor ambient air quality due to volcanic gases. Abundant tremors or earthquakes due to volcanic activity. Orange or red weather alert. Other reasons.
  • I have symptoms of chronic fatigue (ME/CFS), am I a candidate for hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
No, hyperbaric oxygen therapy does not provide benefits and is not an indication for those who have symptoms or a diagnosis of "pure" Chronic Fatigue, formally called: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) / Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME). Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue (ME/CFS) can be similar to Long-Covid, and overlap in some cases. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has shown great improvement results for Long-Covid. On the contrary, it does not have an indication or benefit for Chronic Fatigue ME/CFS. Part of the criteria for accepting referrals for Long-Covid, includes to comply with the formal diagnosis from your doctor according to the definition of Long-Covid from the World Health Organization.
  • I have fillings in my teeth (Silver or plastic), Is this a problem for my treatment?
No, Silver or plastic fillings do not have any problems with the treatment, and they do not need to be replaced beforehand. Silver fillings tend to be older and it is more common for those who have them to experience some discomfort on the first day of treatment compared to plastic or resin fillings. This could be due to the fact that the filling could have become loose, or moved withing the years; and in this case, air could get between the filling and the tooth producing discomfort or pain. If you feel any discomfort or pain, please tell the doctor or nurse immediately so that they can take preventive action. Then, you should go to the dentist to fix that tooth before continuing with the rest of the treatments. During the treatments no one should feel any pain or discomfort in the teeth, ears, or facial bones, if this happens, you should inform it immediately so that the treatment can be stopped and preventive action can be taken. In the case of dental cavities, they should be repaired by your dentist before starting the treatment. And it is recommended to get Röngten of the tooth AFTER the repair, to make sure there is no air trapped under the filling between the tooth.
